It happens in slow motion. You reach for your mug, a stumble occurs, and suddenly your morning coffee is soaking into your laptop keyboard.

The First 60 Seconds: DO THIS IMMEDIATELY
- Force Shutdown: Hold the power button down until the screen goes black. Do not wait for a “proper” shutdown. Seconds matter.
- Unplug Everything: Remove the power cable, USB drives, and mouse.
- The “Tent” Position: Open the laptop and flip it upside down like a tent. This allows gravity to pull the liquid away from the motherboard and toward the keyboard.
The “Rice Myth” (What NOT to Do)
Do not put your laptop in a bag of rice. Rice does not “pull” moisture out of sealed electronics. Instead, rice dust gets inside your ports, and the starch can actually create a sticky paste that traps the liquid against your sensitive components, accelerating corrosion.
Why Liquid is a “Silent Killer”
The water isn’t usually what kills a laptop—it’s corrosion.
